Point Rules and Regulations

In order to accumulate points for Area 2 year end awards, all riders, handlers and owners must be members of the Area 2 Promotional Club and reside within the boundaries of Area 2. Area 2 points will be accumulated at Area 2 approved shows only. Points will be accumulated upon receipt of full membership fees and will commence upon payment of such. Recognized owner will be the last name appearing on the registration papers. Any member who moves out of Area 2 during the course of the calendar year may continue to accumulate points for year-end awards. However, the member and/or horse may be eligible for year-end awards in only one area of Ontario. The area clubs involved must be notified by registered mail within ten days of moving as to which club the owner wishes to accumulate points in. All members in a partnership must be members of Area 2 and reside in Area 2 to accumulate points. There will be two year end awards in each class: High Point and Reserve High Point. Ties will not be broken. In the event of a tie for High Point, there will be no reserve high point award given out. Amateur and Youth points will be accumulated on a one horse/one rider basis. The amateur/youth or their family (as per AQHA rules) must be the last name appearing on the horse’s registration papers. Level 1 Youth/Amateur and Walk-Jog points accumulate on the rider/horse with ownership rules as per AQHA. Leadline and Small Fry Showmanship points will be awarded to the rider.

To qualify for a Year End Class Award, the following number of minimum points must be accumulated at a minimum of three Area 2 approved shows:

  • Open, Amateur and Youth Halter Classes – 10
  • Open and Amateur Performance Class – 10
  • Amateur Select Division – 10
  • Youth (all ages) Division – 10
  • Level 1 Youth/Amateur Divisions – 10 
  • Leadline (7&under), Small Fry Showmanship (11&under), Small Fry Walk/Jog (11&under) – 10

Basis for calculating points in all divisions:

  • Points to be awarded to 9th place

FOR HALTER CLASSES

  • Grand Champion will receive two more points than any other horse one year of age or older in its sex division. 
  • Reserve Champion will receive one more point than any other horse one year of age or older in its sex division.

 

YEAR END HIGH POINT AWARDS

High Point Open Horse: There will be a high point and reserve high point open horse award that includes all open events, including halter. Points are to be accumulated in a minimum of three different classes. Minimum of 50 points in total to qualify.

High Point Amateur: There will be a high point and reserve high point amateur award that includes all amateur events, including halter. Points are to be accumulated in a minimum of three different amateur classes. Minimum of 50 points in total to qualify.

High Point Select Amateur: There will be a high point and reserve high point Select amateur award that includes all Select amateur events. Points are to be accumulated in a minimum of three different Select amateur classes. Minimum of 35 points in total to qualify.

High Point Level 1 Amateur: There will be a high point and reserve high point Level 1 amateur award. Points are to be accumulated in a minimum of three different Level 1 amateur classes. Minimum of 50 points in total to qualify.

High Point Youth 13 & Under: There will be a high point and reserve high point youth 13 & under award. The recipients must be 13 years of age or under, as of January 1st, of the current show season. Points are to be accumulated in a minimum of three different youth classes. Minimum of 50 points in total to qualify.

High Point Youth 14 to 18: There will be a high point and reserve high point youth 14 to 18 awards. The recipients must be between 14 and 18 years of age as of January 1st, of the current show season. Points will be accumulated in a minimum of three different classes. Minimum of 50 points in total to qualify.

High Point Level 1 Youth: There will be a high point and reserve high point Level 1 youth award. Points are to be accumulated in a minimum of three different Level 1 youth classes. Minimum of 50 points in total to qualify.

*High Point Youth 13 & Under and Youth 14 – 18: Points will also be included from any halter, trail, western riding, barrels, poles or any other all age youth classes if only a combined age class is offered.

High Point Walk/Jog Youth: There will be a high point and reserve high point walk/jog youth award. Minimum of 30 points in total to qualify.

High Point Walk/Jog Adult: There will be a high point and reserve high point walk/jog adult award. Minimum of 30 points in total to qualify.
